{"id":2819,"date":"2015-11-13T15:03:50","date_gmt":"2015-11-13T15:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/?p=2819"},"modified":"2021-05-21T14:20:01","modified_gmt":"2021-05-21T13:20:01","slug":"uk-women-turning-to-internet-for-stress-free-retail-therapy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/uk-women-turning-to-internet-for-stress-free-retail-therapy\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Women turning to Internet for Stress-Free Retail Therapy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s difficult to avoid the lure of the high street sale, but modern consumers are finding alternative ways to satisfy their need to nab a bargain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After&nbsp;a survey of 2000 UK women conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/\">LoveSales.com<\/a>&nbsp;we&nbsp;found that despite 63% of UK women saying they love saving money in sales, 74% are fed up of trekking round shops during busy sale periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked for reasons why, 70% say they hate the queues and crowds. 68% blame their outrage on having to sort through messy piles of sale items and 58% are frustrated at not being able to find their size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But there\u2019s a problem. 75% of women confess that they \u201clove\u201d shopping, 25% say they are addicted and 92% of those who enjoy a bit of retail therapy say it cheers them up after a bad day at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion.jpg\"><noscript><img width=\"1250\" height=\"938\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion.jpg\" alt=\"SS15 Fashion Trends\" class=\"wp-image-2666\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion.jpg 1250w, https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1250px) 100vw, 1250px\"><\/noscript><img width=\"1250\" height=\"938\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%201250%20938%22%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" alt=\"SS15 Fashion Trends\" class=\"wp-image-2666 lazyload\" srcset=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%201250%20938%22%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E 1250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1250px) 100vw, 1250px\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion.jpg 1250w, https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion-624x468.jpg 624w\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.lovesales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/spring-fashion.jpg\"><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And the lure of the sale is strong. 41% say that braving a sale allows them to buy something they couldn\u2019t otherwise afford. Half confess that they love the thought of getting a bargain and a quarter enjoy finding an unusual item they wouldn\u2019t otherwise have looked for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>36% of women admit their frustration at paying full price for an item they then see on sale and for 35% seeing a full priced item they like reduced is a clear cue to buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMost women can associate with that strange mix of stress and excitement during sales, but traipsing around busy shops with 2.4 kids in tow isn\u2019t something many would say is fun\u201d said Keir McConomy, Founder of LoveSales.com. \u201cBut increasingly we\u2019re seeing a shift in shopping habits that satisfies the need to find a bargain without the added frustration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s the solution? Shop online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>59% of respondents now monitor items online, usually to make sure they get the best price, and over a third are monitoring two or more items at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>50% of respondents who named clothes or handbags as one of their favourite things to buy also stated that they now prefer to buy them online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing so women are also able to make more informed purchases. 51% admit that after opting to \u201ckeep an eye\u201d on an item and mull over a purchase they will change their mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s interesting that we\u2019re seeing a shift in shopping habits in the modern day.
